Haibun - Impromptu

Impromptu

A lovely summer dusk...the sweet and sour of lime
mojitos over ice with crushed wild mint. Naomi's cry
"Let's do an impromptu!" convinces 20 of us to gather
in a lower east side garden.
I perform a flute solo I composed at dawn called only
"Impromptu". During the improvised coda, clouds gather,
lightning flashes across a dark sky. Then roaring claps of
thunder.
