Haibun - Blues in Black and White

Blues in Black and White

Waves rise and reach for the stars but
always fall. I have lost my voice to a
dream I am unable to remember.
The sky stays black despite the constell-
ations. Along a crenellated edge, white-
caps scribble their endless poem.
What can they say that hasn't been said
already?

January wind --
on a moonlit beach;

I sink into my shadow

(in memory of Matthew Kasha)
